The Los Angeles Times have selected FIVE books for High Schools to read for Women’s History Month and look who’s at No. 3 on their list:
3. “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency” by Alexander McCall Smith
In this book, Precious Ramotswe, a “traditionally built” Botswana divorceé, sets up her own detective agency in Johannesburg, South Africa. As she takes on each of her cases, she and her secretary Grace Makutsi reflect on life, morals and their life experiences; Mma Ramotswe’s humorous, emotionally deft approach to detective work will appeal to many. Reading this book is like drinking a cup of hot tea: it requires you to slow down and take some time to contemplate.
