The past week has been a busy one for Alexander as he travelled on his UK Tour, promoting his latest titles: My Italian Bulldozer; The Bertie Project, and Precious & Grace.
The tour sta
rted in London with a fantastic event at Write on Kew, set in the beautiful surroundings of Kew Gardens,. Alexander was delighted to do this event and to catch up with good friend Judy Elliot with whom we have had the pleasure of working on many occasions over the years—at Sky Arts amongst others. This event was followed by an appearance at an old favourite, Daunt Books in Marylebone. We try to do an event with Daunt Books every year as they have been so supportive since the very first book in The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series was published back in 1998. Alexander then travelled West, stopping off for a literary lunch with Brendon Books in Taunton before heading to the coast to enjoy an evening at Appledore Book Festival in Devon. The fish and chips in this stunning seaside town are to be highly recommended!

As the week progressed the tour turned Northwards, stopping to spend an evening with the Booka Books team in Oswestry, where a gift of some Mma Ramostwe cupcakes were a delightful surprise. After Shropshire, the Wirral beckoned and Linghams Booksellers in Heswall hosted a hilarious afternoon tea.

The tour concluded in C
arlisle where Alexander kicked off the Borderlines Book Festival with a packed event at the Crown & Mitre Hotel. This event took the form of a conversation with broadcaster and radio producer Serena Fields.
All the events were sold out, and the readers were terrific – very engaged and enthusiastic. A huge thank you is due to all the teams who helped make the week a success and to the readers who came along. Alexander takes great joy in meeting his readers and sharing his characters.
