Scotland Street is back!

Date Published: 7th August 2021

It is August and in Scotland that can mean only two things – the Edinburgh International Book Festival is about to start AND Scotland Street returns to the pages of The Scotsman newspaper. As we approach the return of Scotland Street to its rightful position as a serial novel in The Scotsman, the excitement amongst the team is… ridiculous. We are grown adults and yet our friends are about to return and frankly we can’t wait to see them again. And perhaps this year we feel that more than ever.

As Alexander finishes each episode, David Robinson and Edward Crossan edit – David with an eye for the newspaper page and Edward for the book that will be published in November. They then pass it over to the team at the Scotsman who promote it online, on the front page of the paper and of course the gang from the street have a page to themselves when they reach the printed paper. We have worked this way nearly every year since the serial first started in 2005. See it in the paper now.

Iain McIntosh’s illustrations adorn the page of the Scotsman, just as they have for 16 years. And all of the characters are back. Need a recap? Click here for a refresher on the characters.

The daily episodes are gathered together into one volume, published in November this year. The perfect Christmas gift. The title will be Love in the Time of Bertie. If you can’t wait or need to catch up, read A Promise of Ankles available right now.
