Last weekend, Alexander was on the Island of Mull for a festival like no other. A ferry took him from the mainland to the small island and a community festival, WestOverSea – The Tobermory Book Festival, that lasted an entire weekend. Authors, artists and readers, local to the island of Mull and from afar, rubbed shoulders in the audiences for events and at dinners and lunches. Without doubt, this was one of the social and cultural highlights of the year.

Alexander had two slots at the festival: he was joined by Anna Marshall to talk about the hugely popular Scotland Street Cookbook and his own latest Scotland Street novel, The Stellar Debut of Galactica MacFee; he gave an entertaining after-dinner talk about writing his latest books, the ferries (much delayed / often cancelled) and the treasure that is to be found in island living.
