The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series

Next year, 2018, sees the 20th anniversary of publication of the first book in the series, The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency. The characters were first introduced in a short story written for friends of the author but he so enjoyed his conversation with Precious Ramotswe that the story grew into a novel and the novel into a series. Eighteen books later and the author has no intention of stopping that conversation anytime soon. The characters have become friends and he looks forward to their annual reunion. The series has been made into an HBO film and television series and every year there is a BBC Radio 4 series of plays, written by Alexander,  based around the latest book.

Alexander still visits Botswana every year and delights in renewing friendships in the country which is very close to his heart. He likes Mark’s covers very much indeed and always looks forward to the day when we all get to see a new cover revealed.
