This week is Independent Bookshop Week and throughout the UK, bookshops are either re-opening their doors or making final preparations to re-open next week as the restrictions imposed to stop the spread of Covid-19 are eased. We celebrate their re-opening – whether they are the tiniest, much-loved independent or a local branch of a much larger chain. Welcome back – we have missed you all.

Alexander has written a poem in praise of the bookshop and the delights of getting lost and making new friends amongst the shelves! You can listen to him reading it right here:

Support your local bookshop wherever you are this week. They are back and they need the support of readers everywhere.
