Seachdain na Gàidhlig – World Gaelic Week

Date Published: 23rd February 2026

Join us to celebrate World Gaelic Week 2026

This is World Gaelic Week and we are taking the opportunity to highlight the telling of Gaelic’s story in stitch.

Gaelic language and culture is celebrated quite spectacularly in panels from Alexander’s The Great Tapestry of Scotland. (We say of course ‘Alexander’s’ but he knows and we know that this great artwork was created by the hands and generosity of more than 1000 stitchers, the great artistic vision and creative skill of artist Andrew Crummy and the knowledge and narrative of historian, broadcaster and author Alistair Moffat.)

Take time to visit the Great Tapestry of Scotland visitor centre if you are in Scotland or travelling. It is a sight to behold and incredibly moving. Book your tickets here.

Read more in this stunning book which contains images of every panel along with a short history and glorious foreword.
