A final ‘From Botswana with Love‘ film from this, Alexander’s first return to Botswana since the Covid Pandemic. You can watch him here on the readers’ safari in the country that he loves with all his heart. Lions, hippopotamuses, elephants, gazelles, a leopard, stunning birdlife – all come into view in this moving and uplifting film from Mats Ögren Wanger. (Mats Ögren Wanger is a photo journalist and film maker who accompanied Alexander on this trip. He is usually based in Stockholm. You can follow him on Instagram.)

While in Botswana, Alexander was finishing the next installment of The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency – The Great Hippopotamus Hotel. It will be published in the UK in September of this year.

This trip has given Alexander the opportunity to re-engage with old friends in Botswana, friends who hold his respect and who’s company brings him much joy. But he has made new ones here too and looks forward to returning in the near future.

During his stay, he was greatly moved to hear how his friendship and small acts of kindness had helped individuals and communities to grow over the years. And he had the opportunity to introduce the real world of Mma Ramotswe to the readers who accompanied him to The Bush.
