Once in a while, the work of a charity hits home as truly inspirational. Jamie’s Farm is one such charity, supporting young people and their families in the often difficult years of secondary education and, in the process, changing lives. They run two farms on which young people can spend time and learn life skills and they offer counselling family support thereafter. 7000 have spent time on the farms so far.

To support the running cost of the farms and their wider work, the charity has build two cabins where people can book to stay. One of these is The Captain’s Cabin on the west coast of Scotland and Alexander was so impressed with the real cabin that he wrote a delightful new novella of the same name, inspired by photographs on display there. ALL profits from the sale of the book will go to Jamie’s Farm.
