Bertie, his family and neighbours all return to The Scotsman newspaper this week – making this the world’s longest-running serial novel. Join the much-loved denizens of this Edinburgh street every weekday, in print or online, and find yourself uplifted by Alexander McCall Smith’s infectious brand of good cheer.

Scotsman readers get a forward glimpse of the storyline, ahead of the many Scotland Street fans right round the world. At the end of the run, you can catch up with the neighbours’ escapades in a glorious new hardback book, The Enigma of Garlic. Or get ahead of the crowds and pre-order now.
