In 2023 we mark 25 years since first publication of The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency – and what a quarter of a century it has been. The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency books are now available in 47 languages around the world and 25 million copies have sold in the English language editions alone.
To mark the 25th anniversary, the UK publisher LittleBrown has commissioned a new illustration for each book in the series. Each book will have a stunning new look, created by Scottish artist Diane Rendle. Read more about Diane here. The first covers in the series are coming through now. Diane’s artwork is exhibited regularly in the Open Eye Gallery in Edinburgh. (Please note that different illustrations will be found on American and all overseas editions.) You can also see her most recent work on instagram.
Alexander is travelling to meet as many readers as possible in this anniversary year. Already he has been to Dubai and is currently travelling through Australia. Next stop Iceland!
